About SWIM MEETS and other DEMONS...

Past week was a busy one for our team, there were a couple of swim meets and even I (Coach Ana) attended (after many years) to one as a competitor and not only as a coach or an spectator.  As a competitive swimmer I used to love swim meets and this weekend (yes, it was a whole weekend event from Friday to Sunday) I remembered why, the previous excitement and anxiety before every event, the rush and adrenaline right before jumping in the water, swimming faster than you ever imagine you could do and finish a race completely exhausted, sharing the passion about this sport with other swimmers and just enjoy spending time with your swim family is an amazing experience.  As a coach I enjoy swim meets in a different way but the love for them is the same, is the perfect opportunity for me to connect with my swimmers in a way that during trainings is impossible to do, to teach them that winning is a plus but not the main goal, that losing is not a bad thing if you learn from it, that when

WE SURVIVE OUR FIRST WEEK!!

Image
I would like to start by congratulate you all, swimmers, parents and coaches, you did a great job and survive our first week of early wake ups and hard trainings.  I am really happy to have you as part of our team and see that you are really committed and up for the challenge.  Beginnings are not easy and sometimes they are so hard that you don't feel you will be able to keep it up, but guess what?, YOU WILL!, simply because you take the first step and started and also because there is a bunch of people that believes in you and knows how great you are and how awesome you can become. There are a few things that we can improve: PLEASE SHOW UP ON TIME: Most of you are punctual and show up on time but a few are still arriving late, the past week and this week is the time to get used to our schedule, from the next week on there will be consequences for those swimmers who don't arrive on time. I don't want you to take this the wrong way but I owe respect to tho
